WWE have just announced the first ever women's wrestling match to go down in Saudi Arabia, with Lacey Evans facing off against Natalya at Crown Jewel this Thursday (31 October).

The promotion's official Twitter account broke the news earlier this morning:-

This is a huge, huge moment for WWE and their Saudi Arabian shows. The regime's refusal to allow women to compete on shows like Crown Jewel and Super ShowDown despite their increased importance to WWE has been a bone of contention since the deal was first announced. The promotion's reported attempts at rallying for a last-minute women's clash to be added to Super ShowDown back in June weren't successful, but it looks like they've got the job done this time around.

Kudos to WWE for pushing this through.

Evans vs. Natalya is an odd pairing given their recent history, with the duo recently uniting as a Raw tag team after a lengthy in-ring rivalry. Regardless, that their bout is even taking place should be considered something of a triumph, despite the other controversies surrounding WWE's ongoing business in Saudi Arabia. Here's hoping that Natalya and Lacey knock it out of the park.
