First Ever Women's Tables Match Taking Place At WWE TLC 2016
TLC's Smackdown Women's Title match gains a stipulation.
Following a year of firsts for the women of WWE, one more has been added to the record - for the first time, a women's championship will be on the line in a tables match.
The Smackdown Women's Championship match between titleholder Becky Lynch and challenger Alexa Bliss was already official for Sunday's TLC: Tables, Ladders, and Chairs Pay-Per-View, but it gained a new dimension following a contract signing on Tuesday's Smackdown. The two women traded insults and then blows, leading to Becky placing Bliss on the top turnbuckle. The Women's Champion pulled the table into position and tried to give Bliss an Exploder suplex through it, but Bliss shoved her off the ropes and through the table.
Later in the show, Renee Young touched base with Becky, asking if she would still be able to compete at TLC and mentioning that Bliss had laid out a challenge for a tables match. Becky guaranteed that she would make her scheduled defense, and said that whatever kind of match Bliss wanted, she would get.
TLC airs live on the WWE Network this Sunday at 8:00 PM ET.
