Former WWE star Scott 'Scotty 2 Hotty' Garland hopes that his current backstage work in AEW will become a permanent role in 2024.

Interviewed on Wrestling with Johners, Scotty confirmed his role as a producer and coach for the Tony Khan-helmed promotion, adding that he has the chance to do so on a more regular basis. "I'll be going pretty hard with them," said the former WWE Tag Team and Light Heavyweight Champion.

Per Garland himself (h/t Wrestling Observer/Figure Four Online):

"I don’t think it’s a huge secret, I’ve been working for AEW as a producer behind the scenes. As a coach and producer there. And I have the opportunity to do more with them on a regular basis. So it looks like probably at the beginning of the year, I’ll be going pretty hard with them. If everything works out the way I hope it does."

PWInsider reported in July that Garland had worked as a coach and producer on a recent episode of AEW Dynamite.

Garland has considerable backstage experience, having worked for WWE as a trainer from September 2016 until November 2021, when he resigned from his position.
