Former WWE Champions Returning To TV Soon
WWE to be bolstered by major returns imminently.
Sheamus and Xavier Woods are both expected back on WWE television imminently.
Dave Meltzer reported as much in the 15 January edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, stating that the returns are anticipated over the next few weeks. Both wrestlers have been out with injuries as of late.
Sheamus, 45, has been contending with a shoulder issue. He last wrestled on the 18 August episode of SmackDown, facing Edge in the since-departed Adam Copeland's final match for WWE. In Sheamus' absence, Brawling Brutes stablemates Butch and Ride Holland have both gone their separate ways. With Holland returning to NXT, Butch has reunited with former British Strong Style stablemate Tyler Bate on SmackDown, teasing a return to his old ring name, Pete Dunne, in the process.
Sheamus's WWE contract is understood to expire later in 2024, though the promotion could conceivably add time additional following his injury.
The New Day's Woods, meanwhile, last wrestled on 27 November. While there is currently no word on the exact nature of his injuries, he was understood to be banged up in December, with WWE giving him time off to heal, not wanting to bring him back until he was completely healthy.
