Former WWE performer Ricardo Rodriguez was given an AEW tryout at this week's television tapings in Boston, Massachusetts.

PWInsider's Mike Johnson wrote on Thursday that Rodriguez was part of the Spanish announce team on Wednesday. In an update, Sportskeeda's Riju Dasgupta reports that this was a tryout rather than a full-time hiring.

Rodriguez worked as his real name, Jesus Rodriguez, and sat alongside Alex Abrahantes and Alvaro Riojas. There is currently no word on how his tryout went.

The ex-WWE man tweeted the following shortly after the show:-

Rodriguez, 35, is best known for his work as Alberto Del Rio's personal ring announcer in WWE. Debuting alongside ADR on SmackDown in August 2010, he was immediately a key part of the future world champion's act, though he ended up splitting with Alberto and briefly aligning with Rob Van Dam in 2014. He was released from WWE that July, three months after his last televised appearance.

This time period also saw Rodriguez moonlight as a wrestler, doing so as Chimaera and later El Local. He and Kalisto had a short run as an NXT tag team in 2014, though this ended when Rodriguez was released.
