CM Punk will not be appearing on WWE's FS1 show any time soon.

The 'Best in the World' made headlines when he recently auditioned for the company's brand new studio programme Backstage, after his representatives pushed for the move. Though his screening is said to have impressed, ultimately the role of Renee Young's co-host went to WWE Hall of Famer Booker T, and it now seems as though FOX execs have cooled on a cooperation with Punk.

Fightful Select confirmed the story, though they noted the situation could alter in the future:

Punk's tryout went well and he impressed the [WWE] Backstage team, but it was left in the hands of higher ups at FOX. [It] seemed like they'd moved on as recently as this week. Nothing is concrete in that regard, though.

Though we won't be seeing Punk on WWE TV any time soon, then, this does mean his relationship with the company's backstage personnel have thawed significantly. Watch this space.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
