G1 Climax: Ranking The 9 Possible Finals

Many people felt deflated at the end of Wrestle Kingdom 12. That's understandable, as many assumed that Tetsuya Naito was finally going to get his big Tokyo Dome moment and defeat Okada and win the IWGP Championship for a second time. New Japan had other plans in mind, though, as Okada defeated Naito to retain the title. With that disappointment, many people were initially down on the match.

Rewatching it knowing the result though, Okada-Naito was an excellent main event that told a great story. Naito, with the crowd behind him 100 percent, got too swept up in the emotion and reverted to his old ways. Okada, the undisputed top guy of the promotion, kept his cool and was able to capitalize on Naito's mistakes.

Now, months have passed and the two are more or less back on equal footing. Naito has remembered who he is and is putting in an impressive G1. Okada, meanwhile, is going through an identity crisis as he's lost his title to Omega. With both seeking to right their past wrongs and reclaim a spot in the Wrestle Kingdom main event, a G1 Climax final between these two would be a suitably dramatic and excellent way to end the tournament.
