Gable Steveson Makes Surprise Appearance On NXT
Olympic gold medalist offers to train fellow superstar for upcoming match.
Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson was in the news recently for reportedly wanting to use his final year of eligibility and return to collegiate wrestling, but he took a detour Tuesday night to make a splash in the professional wrestling world.
Steveson was a highly touted WWE signing just weeks after winning a gold medal in the 2021 Olympics, even being drafted to Raw that fall. However, he has never wrestled a match for WWE, and aside from a couple appearances at WrestleMania 38 and fellow Olympian Kurt Angle's birthday celebration in December 2022, Gable hasn't been seen on WWE programming.
That changed Tuesday when Steveson appeared and offered to train Eddy Thorpe for his upcoming Raw Underground match against Damon Kemp, who is Gable's older brother. Steveson alluded to that (despite Kemp receiving the WWE random name generator treatment) without directly acknowledging their relationship.

Steveson still is just 23, so even if he returns to collegiate wrestling and this is just a quick appearance to remind fans that he exists, there's still plenty of time for him to return to sports entertainment. It is notable though that he's only appearing in a coaching role at this time to help his brother's opponent. We'll have to see where things go from here.
