The whole season built to a climactic showdown between Debbie and Ruth - or Liberty Bell and Zoya - so it wasn't a surprise when, even though Debbie had pulled out of the show, she made her return at the end.

What was a surprise, however, is that it was all a work. Debbie and Ruth, despite the former's anger at the latter, had managed to plan the whole event without anyone - not even the audience - realising it.

Piling a final twist on things, Sam then decides to go for a rug-pull of his own, having Welfare Queen take the belt to keep the storyline going, and bringing GLOW's weird and wonderful first season to a dramatic finish.
