Goldberg Vs. Brock Lesnar - Official For WWE Survivor Series 2016
Anticipate rematch booked for November 20.
Tuesday afternoon, WWE.com confirmed a rumor that had been floating around for weeks - Bill Goldberg, in his first match in over 12 years, will take on Brock Lesnar in the main event of the 2016 Survivor Series.
Though many fans had expected the bout to take place after Goldberg and Lesnar were announced as the central superstars in the WWE 2K17 video game, a potential opportunity to build up a feud between the two men at SummerSlam was blown when Goldberg did not take part in the event. Nevertheless, Jim Ross tweeted earlier this month that the bout was a "done deal," and the next Monday on Raw, Paul Heyman called out Goldberg.
That led into last week's Raw, where Goldberg - making his first appearance on the show since 2004 - received a monstrous ovation and announced that was accepting Heyman's challenge for a match with Lesnar. Now, the time and place have been set.
The bout is a rematch of one of WrestleMania's all-time most infamous matches. At WrestleMania XX, Goldberg and Lesnar clashed in an interpromotional battle, but news broke online that both men were leaving WWE following the show. Goldberg defeated Lesnar as Madison Square Garden fans tried to boo both men out of the building.
Survivor Series airs on the WWE Network on November 20 at 8:00 PM ET.
