Gunther Can't Wrestle Outside The US For 6 Months
Residency regulations to keep Gunther rooted in United States rings for six months.
WWE's Gunther cannot wrestle outside of the United States for the next six months due to residency regulations.
The Intercontinental Champion revealed as much during a recent conversation with Krone, stating that he won't be able to leave the US for half a year.
Gunther currently lives in Orlando, Florida. He was born in Vienna, Austria in August 1987.
As far as WWE's upcoming international shows go, this would rule Gunther out of Elimination Chamber. WWE takes its multi-podded cage to Perth, Australia on 24 February 2024. Fortunately, though, Gunther should be okay for Bash in Berlin on 31 August.
Gunther stated that after only seeing his wife, Jinny, for six days in October, being restricted to the United States will allow him to spend more time at home.
514 days have elapsed since Gunther became Intercontinental Champion in June 2022, when he dethroned Ricochet. He has since eclipsed the Honky Tonk Man as the longest-reigning title-holder of all time, scoring notable title defences against such names as Drew McIntyre, Chad Gable, Sheamus, Braun Strowman, and Xavier Woods.
Unsurprisingly, given his current situation, Gunther was never booked for Saturday's Crown Jewel 2023 event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
