Hardy Boyz Expected To Hit WWE Main Roster After NXT Run (WWE News)

Could Matt and Jeff be set for a WWE main roster run?

Having been in action on NXT last night, it looks like the Hardys will be doing a little more under the WWE banner this year - including potentially working some WWE main roster matches.

For those who missed NXT, the legendary duo of Matt and Jeff picked up a win over No Quarter Catch Crew's Myles Borne and Tavion Heights. While the Hardys are the reigning TNA Tag Team Champions, it's worth noting that those titles were not on the line here.

That said, the TNA Tag Team Championships will be on the line at NXT Roadblock on 11 March, with NXT Tag Champs Fraxiom confronting the Hardys following that win over Borne and Heights.

As per WrestleVotes, there's an internal "buzz" in WWE that this is "just the beginning" for the Hardys back in WWE. Sources within the company are optimistic that Matt and Jeff will have a main roster run at some point in the spring or summer.

It's also worth noting that WWE Shop has a new Hardy Boyz t-shirt now on sale, with that tee described as a "special event item" that's expected to ship towards the end of next month. While WWE and TNA obviously have a formal working relationship these days, this marks the first time a TNA-contracted talent has an item of WWE merchandise.

The Hardys Back In WWE?

Given how good the Hardys looked on NXT last night, and given how Fraxiom are one of the best, most exciting teams on the planet, those tandems colliding at Roadblock could lead to something extremely memorable. But away from Nathan Frazer and Axiom, should Matt and Jeff indeed find themselves involved in main roster business later in the year, there are some fascinating potential match-ups for the iconic team.

It's somehow approaching six years since the Hardys teamed together on the WWE main roster, with that being at an April 2019 live event where they defeated the Usos. At that time, Matt and Jeff were the reigning SmackDown Tag Team Champions, with them forced to vacate those titles after an injury to the Charismatic Enigma. Matt would remain with WWE until March 2020, while Jeff stayed with the market leader until December 2021. Of course, the brothers would reunite in AEW before they would both later land back in TNA - where they would become three-time TNA Tag Team Champions at Genesis back in October after winning a Full Metal Mayhem match against Eddie Edwards and Brian Myers, and Ace Austin and Chris Bey.

As for what the WWE main roster could have in store for the Hardys, some fans are already fantasy booking Matt and Jeff against the likes of #DIY, the Motor City Machine Guns, the Street Profits, the Creeds, and the War Raiders.
