Have The Colons Asked For Their WWE Release?

Primo and Epico are reportedly heading for the exit door.

Speculation that The Colons have requested their release from WWE is gathering pace, after a T-shirt for Orlando Colon - Epico's indie moniker - appeared on the Pro Wrestling Tees Twitter page.

The duo have been a fixture, under various guises, of the company's tag division for the last five years, although the emergence of teams like Enzo and Cass and American Alpha, coupled with the return of the Hardy Boyz three months ago, has seen their spot on the card put on jeopardy.

With neither of them ever having been given the opportunity to shine as singles stars, it was always likely that they'd grow frustrated at having to sit on the sidelines - particularly after years of service with the company.

If they depart, SuperLuchas expect them to head back to the World Wrestling Council, the Puerto Rico-based company under the ownership of the Colon family, where Carlito returned after leaving WWE under similar circumstances a few years ago.

But their exit is not a foregone conclusion, and the duo are - according to PWInsider - at least scheduled to appear on SmackDown Live events over the weekend.

In wrestling, though, there's usually fire where there's smoke, and the Colons' lowly spot on the card these days is probably a sign they are ready to head for the door.
