Heath Slater Gets A TNA World Title Shot

The 'Free Agent's' first Impact Wrestling match is booked.

Moose Heath
Impact Wrestling

The wrestler formerly known as Heath Slater will face Moose for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship on next week's episode of Impact Wrestling.

Now wrestling simply as Heath, the ex-WWE man talked his way into a title shot on last night's show. Moose, the self-proclaimed TNA Champion, declared he was issuing an open challenge for the strap, leading to Heath claiming the "TNA Championship Committee" had guaranteed him a shot. Moose pointed out that this committee doesn't exist. "Then neither does the TNA Championship," was effectively Heath's response.

Moose accepted. Impact executive Scott D'Amore has now decreed that if Heath wins the bout, he'll be granted a position on the roster.

Heath has been working his 'Free Agent' gimmick since debuting at Slammiversary the other week, aligning himself with former tag team partner Rhyno. He was one of dozens of WWE independent contractors released or furloughed by the promotion as part of its Black Wednesday cuts on 15 April. Heath had teased showing up at Slammiversary pay-per-view days before the event, then invaded the show, cutting a quick promo before putting down an interrupting Rohit Raju. Later, he was thrown out of the building.
