Heels Review: 10 Ups & 1 Down For Episode 1: 'Kayfabe'
Downs...
1. The Accents
The Georgia-set action of Heels means that the vast majority of the folk on display are meant to be Georgia natives. As such, that means that the cast of this Starz show have to dig out their best Georgia twang.
While the accents work for the most part, there are some moments where said twang doesn't always feel quite as authentic as one would like. For Alexander Ludwig, he has rare moments where he goes a little too cartoony with his accent, whereas Stephen Amell has times where he goes a little too deep and drawly - channelling the low volume, mumbling angst seen by a certain Oliver Queen over the years.
To be honest, this is a very minor down, for the rest of the cast perfectly nail the Georgia twang, and even Ludwig and Amell hit the right spots more often than not.
