How Exactly Wrestling Will Return Better Than Ever

Blood & Guts
AEW/Fite TV

Every city will host WrestleMania for a while. Every show will look something like it in sheer, euphoric contrast to the emptiness, and when we return to normal, that normal was amazing, anyway. This just throws everything into sharp relief.

Wrestling may not return better than ever, if you want to get robotic and c*nty about it, but think of that first run of shows. A very good opener of an exhibition match will feel electric enough, with rabid fans taking it in once more. That's not what is going to happen. Ratings are cascading. Many name stars aren't featuring in this new way of doing things. If this trend continues, we may reach a point at which TV companies suspend rights fees.

Every company is going to promote something gargantuan to steal early momentum immediately after the reset point. Every company is going to want to put on a show and every company is going to need to put on a show. Major title matches. Dream matches. Spectacular stipulation matches. Unrestrained and totally unhinged because-we-f*cking-can spot-fests. The first weeks of the comeback are going to offer outrageous riches in a bid for our attention.

Wrestling may not return better than ever, but it will sure as sh*t feel like it.
