World Wrestling Entertainment isn't the only wrestling promotion with big TV news to announce this week. Insane Championship Wrestling has taken a huge step itself, and possibly cemented itself in the number one position when it comes to British wrestling and promotion size, by announcing a new TV deal with the Canada-based Fight Network.

'ICW Fight Club' will be an hour-long show broadcast weekly on the network, being shown in Canada, the USA, Greece, Portugal, Egypt, Turkey and more, including the country I currently find myself living in (Serbia). When this is added to the promotion's existing deal with Nuvolari in Italy ICW now finds themselves broadcast in a total of 38 countries, making them the most widely-distributed weekly episode program in UK wrestling history!

Jokes aside, this is great news for the Glasgow-based company and the many British wrestlers who put their bodies on the line for ICW. The more places that wrestlers can get exposure the better, and the fact that this is a British promotion breaking into international networks should not be ignored.

A UK TV deal still eludes them, but as of June ICW is going global.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
