Idenity Of WWE Tag Champ 'Nicholas' Revealed
It's not what you know, it's who you know.
Those getting their knickers in a twist over a random ten-year old boy claiming the Raw tag-team titles at WrestleMania need to show a bit more respect: turns out the kid has pro-wrestling pedigree.
According to Pro Wrestling Sheet, the so-called "Nicholas", who Braun Strowman plucked out of the Superdome's audience to be his partner against Sheamus and Cesaro, is actually senior WWE referee John Cone's son.
Cone has been officiating in WWE rings for the past 12 years, prior to which he laced the boots on the independent scene, having been given his big break in the industry by none other than Harley Race. He also runs a donut shop in Kansas City, MO with his wife. Guess the guy just loves rings.
Proud though Cone will undoubtedly be of his son's title glory, the referee in him will have been at pains to point out that young Nicholas should actually have been disqualified, after he tagged himself out without making contact with his opponents. You'd think he'd have taught his kid that.
Nicholas joins an elite list of second-generation superstars to hold the straps, amongst them Eddie Guerrero, Rikishi, and Goldust.
