Impact Bring Knockouts Tag Team Titles Back
New champions will be crowned at Hard To Kill 2021.
Impact announced on last night's Bound For Glory pay-per-view that the Knockouts Tag Team Titles will be returning in the new year.
The promotion have been steadily building a female doubles division for the last few months, clearly with a view to reviving a set of straps which were discontinued back in July 2013. A new pair of champions will be crowned at January 2021's Hard To Kill special, in the final of an as-yet unspecified tournament.
The tag titles, which originally came in a lurid shade of Universal red, were originally established in August 2009. Sarita (Sarah Stock) and Taylor Wilde were named inaugural champs at the culmination of a four-week tournament, defeating The Beautiful People (Madison Rayne and Velvet Sky) for the honour.
The final incumbents were much less edifying. Though they held onto the gold for a record 478 days, ODB and (yes) Eric Young's reign was blighted by the undertones that Young was somehow diminished for holding a 'woman's belt. Through a lack of competition and general interest, the Knockouts Tag Titles were vacated in June 2013, and deactivated shortly after.
