Those scoundrels at Impact Wrestling have teased several new roster additions.

In an incredibly on-the-nose bit of dialogue that wasn't quite as clever as it thought it was - but hey, pay-per-view buys are pay-per-view buys - Executive Vice President Scott D'Amore last night discussed with Deonna Purrazzo her upcoming Knockouts Title defence. He kept her opponent a secret.

He acknowledged that things can be a "hot mess" in the promotion which, while accurate, was a clear tease for Chelsea Green, who worked for the promotion as Laurel Van Ness between 2016-18. D'Amore also claimed Slammiversary was set to be "iconic" in a clear nod to the former IIconics Peyton Royce and Billie Kay. He also reminded Deonna that the show is taped in Nashville - "Hardcore Country" - in a reference to Mickie James that he really should have winked down the lens to deliver.

Hack stuff perhaps, but not not intriguing; wrestling fans bloody love an old tease, and any improvement to the general state of women's wrestling in the U.S. is overdue.

Slammiversary, held in front of a limited audience for the first time since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, takes place on Saturday, July 17.
