IMPACT Wrestling Unveil Interesting New Championship

Perhaps Matt Cardona will be chasing royalties for this one...

IMPACT Wrestling has unveiled the innovative new Digital Media Championship, which will be formally brought into the fold later in October.

The strap was announced on last night's IMPACT! episode. It differs from most wrestling titles in that it will primarily be contested on the promotion's social media channels as well as the IMPACT Plus streaming platform. On top of this, it'll likely be an intergender belt, given that the announcement video features both men and women.

IMPACT will crown its first Digital Media Media Champion via a three-week tournament concluding at Bound For Glory 2021 on 23 October. Starting next Tuesday (5 October), it will see two matches play out every week on IMPACT's Ultimate Insider YouTube channel and IMPACT Plus, with the following bouts announced so far:-

5 October: John Skyler vs. Zicky Dice

6 October: Crazzy Steve vs. Hernandez

It'll be interesting to see if Matt Cardona plays any role in the tournament, given the thematic similarities between the Digital Media Title and his Internet Title. The latter is no longer in Cardona's possession, however, as he dropped it to Effy on a GCW show last week.
