Injury Forces Premature Match Stoppage On WWE Raw (WWE News)

There's no word yet on how long WWE star Penta will be out after injury on Monday night.

Penta suffered a shoulder injury during his quarter final match in WWE's John Cena tournament on Monday's episode of flagship show Raw. The popular masked man was wrestling Solo Sikoa in the bout, but pulled up just a few minutes in following a hurricanrana spot outside the ring. Officials stopped the match before declaring MFT leader Sikoa the winner.

He'll now move on to face Gunther (who beat Carmelo Hayes) in the semi finals.

The Wrestling Observer is reporting that Solo was always down to win the bout anyway, but this is a major bummer for Penta. There's no word on exactly how long he'll be benched for at time of writing, but the timing couldn't be worse. Penta was set to reunite with Lucha Bros partner Rey Fenix at AAA's Guerra de Titanes on 20 December in Mexico.

There, the Bros would've faced Dominik Mysterio and El Grande Americano (who are collectively calling themselves Los Gringos Locos 2.0). Now, there are real fears that Penta won't be able to make the show, but that fully depends on just how bad his shoulder injury is. If there's significant damage, then the Raw star could well miss a fair chunk of time heading into the new year.

Obviously, that'd impact major PLEs like Royal Rumble and possibly WrestleMania 42.

Stay tuned for the latest breaking updates on Penta's injury and what this means for his immediate future. Back on the Cena tourney front, it'll be interesting to see how WWE handles a heel vs. heel scenario between Gunther and Solo. It's interesting to think that they had that pencilled in regardless of Penta's shoulder woes.
