Jon Moxley successfully defended his GCW World Championship against Homicide last night, defeating the indie wrestling legend inside New York City's historic Hammerstein Ballroom.

A sold-out crowd gathered for the biggest event in GCW history, The WLRD On GCW, with Moxley vs. Homicide going second-to-last. Though perhaps shorter than anticipated at just over 11 minutes, a typically violent match featuring apron spots, weapons, and big bombs played out, with Mox felling Homicide following a second DDT onto a steel chair.

The former AEW World Champion showed respect to Homicide after the bell, bowing to him, before Homicide was applauded out of the ring by the bumper crowd.

This was the second time Moxley and Homicide have shared a ring in recent months. Homicide made a surprise appearance during the Rampage tapings for AEW's Grand Slam event in New York City on 22 September, saving Mox and Eddie Kingston, though he hasn't appeared for the Tony Khan-helmed group since then.

Moxley has now been GCW World Champion since 4 September 2021, when he defeated Matt Cardona in an open challenge.

Amongst other developments, The WRLD On GCW saw Matt Tremont and Nick Gage return to defeat GCW Tag Team Champions The Briscoe Brothers in the main event, along with a surprise X-Pac appearance.
