Jack King's 10 Favourite WWE Matches Of All Time
9. Royal Rumble Match - Royal Rumble 2010
Rarely do Royal Rumble matches come as complete as the 2010 incarnation. The bout - held in front of a rabid Atlanta, Georgia crowd - is chiefly remembered as the site of Edge's shocking return and triumph, but his victory is barely half the story.
The central tale of the bout is unquestionably Shawn Michaels' quest for redemption. The Heartbreak Kid, obsessed by his loss to Undertaker at WrestleMania 25, had begged the Deadman for a rematch - only for the World Heavyweight Champion to turn him down. Forced to do things the hard way, Michaels' desperation is increasingly evident as he claws his way towards a title shot. He even eliminates best buddy Triple H with an unthinkable Sweet Chin Music, drawing fantastic reactions from the crowd and commentary team alike.
It's unquestionably the best Rumble of the modern era, and should be placed right up there with 1992 and 2001 as one of the greatest of all time.
Hidden Highlight: CM Punk's cameo towards the beginning, including a hilarious mid-match promo.
