Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler has signed a new WWE contract.

PWInsider’s Mike Johnson noted that this was the word backstage at last night’s episode of Raw in Lawler’s Memphis, Tennessee, on which the legendary wrestler and announce made a surprise appearance.

While there’s currently no word on how long, exactly, Lawler’s new WWE contract runs for, it is believed that his previous deal expired at the end of 2021.

The 72-year-old has made only sporadic WWE appearances over the past few years. He last served as a full-time member of the company’s announce team when he operated on Raw between September 2019 and April 2020.

In January 2019, the legend claimed to have signed a two-year deal with WWE (complete with a raise), adding that his contracts with the promotion always come up on 10 January.

Lawler’s Raw cameo came in the form of a backstage segment last night. Nikki A.S.H. and Rhea Ripley were in a hallway when they were accosted by an autograph hunter. Though A.S.H. got excited, thinking they wanted her autograph, it was Lawler, an iconic Memphis wrestling figure, whose signature they were chasing. Ripley wasn’t best pleased by this.
