Jim Ross Says Vince McMahon Viewed THIS WWE Star As "Too Dangerous"
Top WWE stars told Vince McMahon they didn't want to work with this specific wrestler.
Iconic announcer Jim Ross openly discussed why Taz(z) didn't have more success in WWE as an active wrestler during the most recent episode of his 'Grilling JR' podcast.
According to Ross, several top stars told Vince McMahon that they didn't want to work with the ECW incomer because they thought he was "too dangerous" - JR then noted that nobody told him that face-to-face, but that he did hear it second hand from Vince.
Select talents were "uncomfortable" with the thought of wrestling Tazz because of his flashy suplexes. Some even cited his debut match with Kurt Angle at the 2000 Royal Rumble, and pointed out how stiff some of his moves looked.
JR told co-host Conrad Thompson that he thinks physical size also played a part; Tazz wasn't the tallest, and Jim is sure that some in WWE had a problem with that. If they didn't want to outright say it, then they could hide behind the "too dangerous" chatter instead.
Eventually, McMahon "took [these comments] to heart" and changed his outlook on Tazz as a top-tier member of the roster. It was all downhill from there until the ex-ECW World Champ showed potential as a colour commentator.
