Jim Ross has undergone successful surgery to remove two skin cancer spots from his back.

Last week saw the veteran AEW announcer speak on the matter ahead of going under the knife on Monday, confirming the procedure on his Grilling JR podcast. Now, Dave Meltzer has stated the surgery was a success - doing so in the latest Wrestling Observer/Figure Four Online daily update.

Ross is expected to assume his usual spot in the AEW announce booth for this week's episode of Dynamite in Chicago, Illinois. His cancer treatment continues through radiation therapy, which the 69-year-old begins next Monday.

The legend has previously stated that he doesn't think his treatment will necessitate taking time off television:-

“I don’t plan on missing any work according to my doctors, so that’s good. It’s just a matter of dealing with the issues, gritting your teeth, and moving on. That’s kind of what I’m doing. I really appreciate all the fans who have reached out on social media and so forth giving me their encouragement, prayers and so forth. I didn’t get the worst kind of skin cancer. Whatever that is, I don’t have. It’s one of those deals. It’s part of the journey. I have to deal with it and I will deal with it. No doubt about it. It’s just a pain in the a*s to get all these treatments."

All the best to Ross as this process continues.
