John Cena’s 10 Other Moves Of Doom
4. Sunset Flip Powerbomb
The sunset flip powerbomb has become quite common in wrestling, similar to how the DDT was used by close to every wrestler after Jake Roberts. AJ Styles, Kevin Owens, Rey Mysterio, Dustin Rhodes and Alexa Bliss just being a few that use the sunset flip powerbomb regularly.
It’s a move which John’s adopted too, where he rolls/flips over his (elevated) opponent and uses 'see-saw' momentum to pull his opponent down to the mat shoulders/back first. The resulting position leading to a sitout pin. It’s a variation of a move innovated by Super Shisa in Japan, who called it the Yoshi Tonic, and Petey Williams, who labelled it the Canadian Destroyer.
When Cena added it to his repertoire fans were shocked. Crowds popped huge when they realised Cena was capable of doing the sunset flip powerbomb all along, like in his Money in the Bank clash with Owens or his Rumble classic with AJ where they bust out big move after big move to try and keep the other down.
