John Cena Says THIS AEW Star Is "A Better Version Of What I Did"

John Cena has showered All Elite Wrestling's Max Caster with lavish praise, calling the Acclaimed member's rapper persona "the better version of what I did."

Referring back to the 'Dr. of Thugonomics' persona that saved Cena from the WWE chop and helped him break out in the promotion, building the foundation for one of the most successful careers in company history, Cena told Forbes the following when asked if he could beat Max in a rap battle:-

“I know of Max Caster very well, and the answer is no. He’s extremely gifted. I remember hearing him for the first time, and asking a good friend of mine to please pass his information on to me. I immediately checked out his raps, out of the blue, and I saw what he was doing was spectacular. I wish him all the best of luck, but I can’t give him any advice because he’s punching far above my weight class. He is very gifted. He’s gifted enough to rhyme to the beat live, where I kind of did my stuff a cappella to let the punchlines sink in.”

Caster's rapped ring entrances have been his signature since he and partner Anthony Bowens started teaming on an October 2020 episode of Dark. The act quickly got over in AEW, establishing The Acclaimed as a tag team to watch, and while Max's close-to-the-bone bars have landed him in trouble in the past, he keeps moving forward.

It speaks volumes that ahead of last night's match with CM Punk, Caster's rap line on Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars was one of the most anticipated things on Dynamite.

Continuing his praise, Cena said that what Caster is doing is "really, really spectacular," adding that Max has immense potential:-

“Hip-hop constantly evolves, and it constantly moves forward, and he is the better version of what I did. He’s really, really spectacular. As long as he keeps everything in realistic perspective, he shows great potential.”

Caster fell to CM Punk on Dynamite last night, though his rap popped the crowd regardless.
