Will Smith PUNCHES Chris Rock As Oscars 2022 Becomes WWE!

The Oscars take a turn for the pro wrestling as Will Smith smacks Chris Rock live on air.

A scene resembling something you'd expect to see on tonight's episode of WWE Raw played out on Sunday's Oscars ceremony, as Will Smith walked onstage to smack Chris Rock in the mouth.

Smith was responding to a joke Rock made at the expense of Will's wife, Jada Pinkett-Smith, who suffers from alopecia - an autoimmune skin disease causing hair loss. Pinkett-Smith shaving her head in July 2021 was a response to this, with the actress previously referring to her struggles with the condition as "terrifying."

Rock attempted a joke at Jada's expense during the Oscars, saying he was looking forward to seeing her star in G.I. Jane 2 (making reference to the famous scene from the 1997 film in which Demi Moore shaves her head). Understandably, given the circumstances, this was poorly received. Pinkett-Smith's displeasure was clear the moment the cameras caught her reaction, before her husband walked onstage, slapped Rock live on air, and sat back down.

"Keep my wife's name out of your f*cking mouth," said Smith to Rock after returning to his seat.

Later, when receiving the first Oscar of his career his role in King Richard, Smith apologised. “Richard Williams was a fierce defender of his family,” he stated, tearing up. “I know to do what we do, you gotta be able to take abuse, you gotta be able to take people talk crazy about you, in this business, you gotta have people disrespecting you and you gotta smile and pretend that it’s okay.”

“I wanna apologise to the Academy, I wanna apologise to all my fellow nominee. Art imitates life. I look like the crazy father, just like they said about Richard Williams, but love will make you do crazy things," Will added.

This isn't the first time Rock has joked at Pinkett-Smith's expense, having previously called out her boycott of the 2016 Oscars.

While last night's scene played out like something seen on a wrestling show, it doesn't sound like this was a work, with Rock refusing to talk about the incident in the Oscars press room. The Los Angeles Police Department has since stated that the comedian has declined to file a police report.
