John Cena To Guest Host Today Show Next Week

NBC wants him back!

According to WWE.com, John Cena will be making his return to NBC's "Today Show" next week. The following release was issued today:

The Champ is back on €œToday€! John Cena will co-host NBC€™s hit morning show during the 9 a.m. ET hour on Wednesday, Sept. 16, with Willie Geist and Natalie Morales.
Cena returns to €œToday€ after two successful guest co-hosting stints during SummerSlam Week, when he surprised 500th wish kid Rocco, honored a deserving teen with the New York Yankees and even got in the €œToday€ show kitchen.

As mentioned in the release, Cena successfully appeared on the show two times as a guest host back in August during the week leading up to SummerSlam in Brooklyn. He generally came off well during the appearance, fitting in quite well alongside his co-hosts, if not even a bit quiet during his time on the NBC airwaves.

So far, no special events have been announced for the Cena guest host time slot, though it would seem that WWE or NBC would have something wrestling related planned to make Cena's traveling to New York worth it for both sides. USA Network, which airs WWE RAW (and soon, SmackDown as well), is owned by NBCUniversal, so the crossover makes sense from a business perspective.
