Jim Ross has compared one of AEW's rising stars to WWE mouthpiece Paul Heyman.

Jim Ross has likened AEW's rising star MJF to WWE man Paul Heyman.

The iconic announcer made this comparison during a recent episode of his excellent 'Grilling JR' podcast - JR has continued recording pods despite undergoing cancer treatment. That's a testament both to his toughness and to his love of pro wrestling.

Despite fighting through pain, Ross hasn't missed a beat. His words about MJF were passionate, and he clearly believes that the AEW heel is destined for great things. That's why, when pressed on the parallels between Friedman and Paul E, Jim doubled down.

He called MJF "a muscular, athletic Paul Heyman" too, which is quite the statement.

Ross admires the poise MJF shows on the microphone generally, but he especially likes the way the young AEW star owns being an as*hole on screen. Also, JR believes Tony Khan and All Elite's creative process works for the guy. He thinks AEW are doing right by MJF, and reserved special praise for the way Khan refuses to "over-expose" one of his prized assets.

That's a great point. MJF doesn't wrestle every single week, which helps to make any in-ring work memorable.
