Kalisto Returns At Iowa WWE House Shows
Former U.S. Champion back in action.
Former WWE United States Champion Kalisto was first put on the shelf in early August, but he quietly returned to action over the weekend at a string of house shows in Iowa. From Saturday through Monday, the Lucha Dragon picked up a string of victories over Tyler Breeze in Sioux City, Des Moines, and Dubuque.
WWE was tight-lipped about Kalisto's injury through his entire convalescence, never officially announcing that he was out of action. Still, it had been almost three months since his last bout, which was a loss to Apollo Crews in a triple threat match that also involved Baron Corbin. That match got Crews a SummerSlam title shot at then-Intercontinental Champion The Miz.
Kalisto and Corbin had been feuding, with "The Lone Wolf" routinely bullying the two-time U.S. Champion. However, Kalisto's injury (rumored to be involving his back) forced a premature end to the program. Their planned SummerSlam match had to be scrapped, and instead, Corbin cut an angry promo on Kalisto on the event's kickoff show.
Kalisto's TV return hasn't been announced yet, but he can be expected to appear on Smackdown shortly.
