The upcoming Starrcast II has rebounded from the blows of losing major marquee names The Undertaker and Kurt Angle with the announcement of an absolutely fantastic replacement: none other than Japanese wrestling legend Kenta Kobashi.

Kobashi, who retired from the ring in 2013, was a three time Triple Crown Champion in AJPW before following mentor Mitsuharu Misawa out the company to his new venture Pro-Wrestling NOAH. One of the biggest stars of the breakout promotion, Kobashi hit the top of Dave Meltzer's five-star scale on a stunning 23 occasions, six times winning the coveted Match of the Year award outright.

Kobashi will join a raft of industry icons at the Starrcast II convention on the 23-26 May, joining the stars of the weekends AEW Double or Nothing event, as well as legends such as The Four Horsemen, Bret Hart, and Sting.

The event is set to be hosted at Las Vegas' Caesars Palace - the same venue which hosted WrestleMania IX in a car park.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
