Kevin Owens Was Not At WWE Raw Taping
KO opted to sit out after recent positive test results.
Kevin Owens opted to sit out of Wednesday's taping of WWE Raw, following the recent positive test of one of the promotion's wrestlers.
Fightful Select first reported the news late on Wednesday night, the story subsequently confirmed by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer.
According to the Fightful report, WWE were not unhappy with Owens' decision to skip the show, and nor did they encourage him to change his plans. There is currently no word on when he is expected to return to action.
Earlier this week, WWE's taping schedule was flung into chaos when it was confirmed a member of their developmental roster had contracted the pathogen. Tuesday's set were delayed until yesterday, to allow for the rest of the company's performers and staff to be tested.
According to various reports, this was the first time the entire roster had been subjected to a reliable virus testing programme, outside of basic temperature checks.
Owens had only recently returned to WWE action, following a small break post-WrestleMania to spend time with his family during the ongoing global health crisis.
The 36-year-old Canadian is not afraid to put his personal concerns ahead of the company. Last year, he declined to travel to Saudi Arabia, apparently in solidarity with good friend Sami Zayn, who had been asked to skip the show.
