All Elite Wrestling's 'Stadium Stampede' trademark application has been suspended by the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Per the USPTO's official database, AEW filed an application for this trademark on 6 August, almost three months after debuting the match stipulation at Double Or Nothing 2020 in May. The promotion understandably wanted to secure the rights to 'Stadium Stampede' long-term, but was served an official USPTO suspension notice on 7 December.
Said suspension letter is available here. It states that the "likelihood of confusion" with 'Spring Stampede', which WWE filed a trademark application for on 6 December 2019, is the reason, noting that "action on this application is suspended until the prior-filed application(s) either registers or abandons."
WWE's 'Spring Stampede' application is still pending. It elates to the old WCW pay-per-view brand, which hasn't aired since April 2000.
AEW's first Stadium Stampede match saw The Elite and Matt Hardy face off with Chris Jericho's Inner Circle inside an empty TIAA Bank Field. Headlining Double Or Nothing 2020 (AEW's first pay-per-view since the global health crisis forced fans out of arenas in March), it was a long, cinematic affair, and drew a largely positive critical response.
