WWE decided to drop a planned Women's Tag-Team Title match pitting Damage CTRL vs. Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler at WrestleMania 39. Instead, according to The Wrestling Observer, Ronda will team with Shayna elsewhere on the card(s).

Dave Meltzer says Rousey and Baszler will take part in the "Women's WrestleMania Showcase" four-way tag bout despite Ronda's current arm injury. Raquel Rodriguez and Liv Morgan are the only duo confirmed for the bout at time of writing, but WWE will likely add another team or two on Friday's episode of SmackDown.

Ronda and Shayna are expected to be one of the tandems handpicked to fill a spot in that scenario. That's a bit of a drop off for Rousey and Baszler - they've gone from potentially winning the Women's Tag straps to working a nothing match that acts as a thinly-veiled replacement for prior 'Mania Battle Royals.

Still, at least they'd get a decent 'Mania payday for being involved on either night in SoFi Stadium.

Meltzer claims other teams in line for a "Showcase" spot include Shotzi and Natalya teaming together, and Carmella pairing up with Chelsea Green. That'd make Ronda and Shayna the only full-time package in the match.
