News seeping out of the Lucha Underground Temple is that the current Lucha Underground Champion, The Monster Matanza Cueto, suffered a fairly serious injury at TV tapings in California over the weekend. Whilst working a bout against Dragon Azteca, the storyline brother of Dario Cueto suffered the injury after a window-smashing spot went a little awry.

Much like Goldberg many moons ago, Matanza was to punch out a gimmicked window but managed to get the wrong window. The show must go on of course, so Matanza punched the real window out and cut his arm up pretty badly in the process. How bad we aren't entirely sure, but bad enough for the match to be stopped, an ambulance to be called and for fans to be kept in the Temple as a precautionary measure.

Reading what happened doesn't fill the Lucha Underground fan with much optimism, but the performer under the mask has since taken to Twitter to clear the air regarding the severity of the injury. Five stitches were required, and The Monster Matanza Cueto can get back to wrecking shop as soon as next week.

Lucha Underground is currently taping the third season of the show as the second airs, with early 2017 viewed as the probable air date.
