Major AEW X NJPW Forbidden Door Injury - Title Match Changed & Replacement Named

More devastating injury news ahead of one of the Championship matches this Sunday.

Tomohiro Ishii is injured and will not appear at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door this Sunday.

'The Stone Pitbull' was set to compete against Miro, Malakai Black and PAC in a four-way to determine the first ever AEW All-Atlantic Champion. He will now miss the show, with New Japan Pro Wrestling themselves confirming the news along with an update on Ishii's replacement.

"Thank you for supporting New Japan Pro-Wrestling. Tomohiro Ishii, who was scheduled to compete on June 26 at AEW x NJPW Presents Forbidden Door, has sustained a left knee injury and is not medically cleared to compete.We apologise to fans who were looking forward to seeing Ishii wrestle and appreciate your understanding.After a hard fought qualifying match in Korakuen Hall on June 21, Clark Connors will take Ishii’s place in the All-Atlantic Championship four way at Forbidden Door."

Connors lost to Ishii in a qualifier for the pay-per-view match earlier this month, having defeated Tomoaki Honma in an earlier qualifier. This will be his second appearance in AEW having wrestled a 10-man tag alongside fellow NJPW wrestlers against The Factory on a May 17th edition of Dark.
