Major Chad Gable WWE Contract Update Following AEW Rumours

What's going on with the Alpha Academy man following Dax Hardwood's AEW teases?

Chad Gable will not be heading to AEW soon.

In fact, the Alpha Academy man won't be heading anywhere soon, as he is under WWE contract for the foreseeable future.

Per Fightful Select, Gable's WWE contract still has "plenty of time left on it." This should be enough to quell rumours that the former SmackDown Tag Team Champion could be AEW bound, which stem largely from Dax Harwood, who has winked to that effect on several occasions.

January 2021 saw Harwood put Gable over as somebody AEW should sign, doing so while participating in a watch-along of The Revival's NXT TakeOver: Dallas bout with American Alpha. Then, in March, Harwood tweeted Gable on his birthday, acknowledging that Chad couldn't respond to him publicly for another two months.

This bred speculation that Gable's WWE contract could be up in May. It is now July, the former American Alpha man remains with the promotion, and the Fightful report suggests that this will be the case for a considerable period of time.

Despite this, it is believed that should Chad become available, a number of AEW wrestlers will push for the promotion to sign him. Speculatively, it isn't hard to imagine Dax being one of them.
