Major Change To Top WWE Day 1 Title Match

Last night's WWE Raw brought a big development for Day 1's only announced match.

Kevin Owens has been added to the WWE Title match between champion Big E and Seth Rollins scheduled for the Day 1 pay-per-view on 1 January 2022.

Rollins earned contendership back on Raw's 25 October episode, besting Owens, Rey Mysterio, and Finn Balor in a ladder match to get his title shot. His bout with Big E was announced last night, though KO ended up being booked in a non-title match with E. If Owens won, he'd be added to the match - and he did.

E wasn't pinned or submitted. Instead, Owens goaded Rollins into attacking him, striking Seth when he was at ringside, knowing Rollins would retaliate. Retaliate Rollins did, leaping upon Owens after recovering. This prompted the disqualification and handed KO the victory.

That Seth had spent much of the evening trying to talk Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville out of giving the match to Owens meant he flipped out after the main event's result was read.

Owens vs. Big E vs. Rollins is the only bout WWE has confirmed for Day 1 thus far. The PPV takes place in Atlanta, Georgia on New Year's Day.
