Major Spoiler For Next Week's AEW Dynamite

Big changes may be afoot for next week's Dynamite.

Kenny Omega
AEW

AEW taped next week's episode of Dynamite in Jacksonville yesterday, and the Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer understands that Penta El Zero M took Rey Fenix's place in his scheduled World Title Eliminator Tournament match with Kenny Omega.

Fenix was injured while wrestling Penta on this week's Dynamite. He took an awkward bump on his neck and shoulder area after coming off the top rope and appeared to be in some discomfort afterwards, though he stayed in communication with referee Aubrey Edwards. Nonetheless, Fenix was able to finish the match and defeat his brother, with Meltzer claiming the high-flyer told friends that he felt "fine" afterwards.

There is currently no word on how long, exactly, Fenix will be out for. A further update on his injury status is hopefully forthcoming.

As Fenix's first-round opponent, Penta would be the most natural replacement. Omega remains the tournament favourite and is expected the advance to the finals at Full Gear (7 November).

While Fenix vs. Omega would have likely been an incredible match, Penta's previous bout with 'The Cleaner' at All In suggests the quality level will be high on Wednesday night regardless.
