With the WWE landscape very much now a different one to what it was just a handful of weeks ago, many wrestling fans have pondered how Cody Rhodes will fare in a WWE that's under the creative stewardship of Triple H.

Of course, Cody's time in AEW saw him take several shots at the Game, including symbolically using a sledgehammer to smash a throne during his entrance at the inaugural Double or Nothing PPV back in 2019. With Rhodes reportedly having dealt mainly with Vince McMahon during negotiations over his return to WWE at WrestleMania 38, plenty have speculated over the Cody/Hunter dynamic.

Under Vince, the American Nightmare was presented as a major deal - including three consecutive premium live event wins over Seth Rollins - and was seemingly being poised to make a run at the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. Those plans were brought to a crashing halt after Rhodes suffered a pectoral tear, but it appears that Cody is still on track to be positioned as a significant player for WWE as and when he returns to action.

Speaking on the latest edition of the Mat Men Podcast, Andrew Zarian stated how WWE has "a lot of plans" for Rhodes at WrestleMania 39 next year. What those plans involve remains to be seen, but it may well be that the former AEW EVP is inserted into the the World Title mix on one night of the next outing for the company's Showcase of the Immortals.

While there is nothing set in stone as of yet where it pertains to a return date for Cody, the hope is that he will be cleared to compete at the Royal Rumble in January, as WWE then embarks on its traditional Road to WrestleMania.
