MAJOR Update On Zelina Vega's Wrestling Future
Thea Trinidad has already signed her first post-WWE deal - but is it with AEW?
Thea Trinidad won't be showing up in All Elite Wrestling anytime soon.
Per Dave Meltzer in this week's Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the former Zelina Vega has already signed her first post-WWE contract. While there's currently no word on whether or not the deal is with a wrestling company or something outside the sport entirely, it prevents her from appearing for other promotions.
The contract is not with AEW.
Meltzer describes the deal as "somewhat short-term." The door isn't completely closed on her making it to AEW eventually, though such a move isn't imminent.
Trinidad's former managerial client, Andrade, was released from WWE earlier this week. The prospect of the duo pairing up once more had wrestling fans excited from the moment this was announced. Now, it looks like if this does happen, it won't be in AEW. At least for now.
Thea's standard 90-day non-compete clause expired on 11 February. Andrade left WWE without one, meaning he is already free to negotiate with other wrestling promotions.
November 2020 saw Trinidad fired by WWE for "breach of contract," as she had failed to adhere to the company's restrictive new policy on using third-party platforms.
