During an interview with ET Canada, current AEW star Matt Hardy has revealed cancelled plans that would have seen a cross-promotion angle between then-IMPACT stars the Hardy Boyz, and then ROH stars the Young Bucks.

'Big Money Matt' has stated that the angle was due to commence prior to himself and brother Jeff departing IMPACT in early 2017 to return to WWE at WrestleMania 33. The angle would have lasted between three and four months.

Right before my brother and I left Impact to return to WWE, we were actually going to do a Ring of Honor-Impact crossover angle with the Hardys and the Young Bucks for three or four months. And we had that set. But then some things changed in their management and then ended up we’d return to would return to WWE once we ended up leaving.

After leaving IMPACT, the Hardy Boyz did get two matches involving the Young Bucks, winning the ROH World Tag Team Championships in the process. This all culminated in a stellar ladder match at ROH's Supercard Of Honor IX on 1 April 2017.

Hardy has stated that he's all for cross-promotion with professional wrestling. He was recently part of an IMPACT-related cross-promotion angle, as he brought AEW's Private Party into the Anthem-helmed promotion to challenge The Good Brothers for the World Tag Team Championships earlier this year.
