Underdog Maxxine Dupri is your brand new Women's Intercontinental Champion. The babyface toppled Becky Lynch during a hot match on Monday's episode of Raw inside the historic Madison Square Garden. Adding yet more drama, one AJ Lee returned to WWE screens with an evil grin and effectively cost arch nemesis Lynch her gold as fans in New York roared with approval.

This ends Becky's IC Title reign at 164 days - she won the belt from Lyra Valkyria back at Money In The Bank on 7 June.

The title switch marks a massive moment in Maxxine's career. She burst onto the scene as part of the ill-fated Maximum Male Models group in July 2022, but has carved out a niche for herself as a likeable, plucky underdog as part of Alpha Academy and now since going out on her own as a full-time part of the Raw women's division.

Triple H is showing a lot of faith in Dupri, but 'The Game' will be heartened by the booming pop which accompanied her championship win. Of course, AJ's involvement had a lot to do with that, but WWE crowds have been team Maxxine for a while now. It's impossible to feel anything other than delight that she got to enjoy this moment on the flagship.

Like any title reign, it'll live and die on the strength of the follow up and the challengers creative pick for Dupri. A rematch with Becky seems likely, but then...who knows? Perhaps it'll be a short stint, but the actual win over Lynch itself will be a banner moment in Maxxine's WWE career regardless.
