Meltzer: Brock Lesnar To AEW "Makes No Sense"

It'd be a costly move for a company trying to break even.

News that Brock Lesnar's WWE contract expired sometime after WrestleMania 36 hit the internet earlier this week, sparking all kinds of speculation on his professional future.

As WWE's biggest domestic competitor, AEW was brought up straight away, with company president Tony Khan stoking the fires further by refusing to comment on potentially signing Lesnar during yesterday's All Out media conference call. Despite all this, returning to WWE remains the likeliest outcome.

Dave Meltzer covered the story in this week's Wrestling Observer Newsletter. He wrote that Brock will most likely try to use AEW for leverage in talks with WWE, adding that 'The Beast Incarnate's' value to AEW "would be nowhere near the price tag." In conclusion, "a deal with Lesnar makes no sense for a company basically trying to just break even during the [global health crisis]."

As far as payday goes, Meltzer states that only WrestleMania and Saudi Arabia make sense for Lesnar at the moment, with the latter currently out of the question.

AEW has lost a far greater percentage of its revenue than WWE as a result of being unable to hold attended events. Meltzer's analysis is spot on: it'd be a huge shock if Brock showed up somewhere else.
