Coveted free agent could wind up elsewhere just days after WWE talks collapse.

Just days after reports that talks between her and WWE fell apart, Mercedes Moné could be on her way to All Elite Wrestling.

The highly sought-after free agent has yet to sign on any dotted line, but Fightful Select reports that after discussions about a return to WWE collapsed, Moné could be closing in on a decision that would put her with their largest competitor. Fightful previously reported that Moné and WWE were "far apart on terms."

New reporting reveals that Moné and AEW have continued discussions, just a month after it appeared that they couldn't reach an agreement. Industry sources told Fightful that AEW is the likely destination for the former Sasha Banks.

No one has been able to confirm that Mercedes has signed with AEW, but it's worth noting that recent free agents like Will Ospreay and CM Punk did not sign their contracts until the day they appeared with their new homes. One source told Fightful they had heard Moné and AEW were close to agreeing on terms.

Reportedly, Mercedes has seeking one of the largest contracts for a women's wrestler in history.

Mercedes, along with then-tag partner Naomi, walked out of WWE in May 2022, vacating their WWE Women's Tag Team Championship. Moné wrestled for New Japan Pro-Wrestling in early 2023, winning the IWGP Women's Championship and was in the finals to crown the inaugural NJPW Strong Women's Champion before suffering a severe ankle injury in May 2023. She's been out of action since.

Moné did appear on AEW programming once, shown sitting in the crowd at All In back in September.

Wherever she lands, Moné is bound to receive a ton of attention and could be a serious coup for AEW after seeing Punk walk out the door and right back into WWE.
