Mick Foley Doesn't Think Seth Rollins Is A Dangerous Worker

Accidents happen.

Mick Foley is one of the biggest public defenders of working wrestlers, and this week he has taken on the case of Seth Rollin's reputation of being a dangerous worker.

In a lengthy Facebook post entitled "The Rap on Rollins Isn't Fair" he delivered 1,183 words on why he thinks Rollins is a safe worker. He felt compelled to write the article in due part to Bret Hart's claim that Rollins needs to "stop hurting talent before someone gets killed."

Here are a few of the highlights:

When it came to Sting's injury, Foley speculated it was largely due to Sting's age giving him a "whiplash effect" when he was hit with a Buckle Bomb:

In my opinion, the injury was not Seth's fault, not Sting's fault, or WWE's fault; it simply may have been a case of trying to push back the hands of time a little too far, a little too fast

From personal experience, he revealed how risky some moves are by relaying a story about how he took a chokeslam from The Undertaker and was spitting up blood afterwards:

Those turnbuckle bombs remind me of choke slams, in the sense that there is little margin for error. While some moves allow the body to disburse the impact over a large area of the body, the turnbuckle bomb, like a choke slam has a very small margin for error.

He also said that Cena's broken nose was simply an accident, just like Foley broke Goldust's nose years ago. He concluded with:

Sometimes, injuries just happen. It's part of what we do. Seth Rollins is a safe wrestler. He works an intense, highly physical style, as do most of the WWE Superstars.

We'll see if Bret Hart will respond to any of this. It's likely someone will at least ask him about it in the future.

It's definitely possible that Rollins has just had a few unlucky accidents to his name, and perhaps he'll go years without hurting someone again. But every time something goes wrong in one of his matches, it will only add to his perception that he's a bit unsafe.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW.
