Mick Foley To Undergo Hip Surgery & "Stay Quiet" About WWE

The Hardcore Legend is planning to take a step back for a while.

Now that he's been "fired" as General Manager of Raw - a role that just never seemed a good fit for the 2017 version of Mick Foley - the iconic superstar is free to get the surgery on the hip that has been plaguing him for quite some time. He's dropped a considerable amount of weight - thanks to DDP Yoga in part - but the full-time travel schedule can't be doing anything for the long-standing injury.

After Kurt Angle was named his popular replacement as Raw GM, Foley took to Facebook to address the Olympian's new position:

"Kurt Angle is great choice for #Raw GM. He has the respect of everyone in the dressing room, can get serious when he needs to, and has an awe-inspiring ability to embrace his inner nerd. He is likely to have very good chemistry with a wide assortment of the #Raw roster - which makes for good television. I'm not sure if this is true, but there is a rumor out there that he won an Olympic gold medal with a broken freakin' neck!

In light of his removal from the product - and possibly as a mark of respect to Angle's new tenure - he also says he's dialling back his public discussions of WWE:

I will be wishing Kurt the very best, and will always have an open ear for him if he is looking for advice or feedback. But publicly, I am going to take a page out of former US President's playbooks, and do my best to stay fairly quiet about the product. I may occasionally point out something positive that I see (like Neville and Mustafa Ali working their butts off last night under less than ideal circumstances) but, in general, I will be keeping a much lower profile on social media."

The Hardcore Legend reveals that he'll be going under the knife for the much-needed hip surgery on April 19th. Afterwards he only has one appearance scheduled in mid-May and then his calendar is free until July, allowing him to rest and rehabilitate and possibly take on another writing project.

Fingers crossed for a look at the inner workings of being General Manager...
